Ignite Theatre exists to develop our students' God given gifts to achieve excellence in the performing arts, to His glory. We teach foundational performing arts concepts of acting, singing and dancing in a professional, yet fun and engaging atmosphere, to stretch our students creatively while building their confidence. Our educational community of committed students, talented instructors and amazing parents feel like family, and together we create stellar musical theatre performances with impressive costumes and set design, to our audience’s delight.
Over the past seven years of performances, Ignite Theatre gained a reputation of high caliber musical theatre. The performances have been memorable as our first season offered audiences Annie JR (2014), followed by Disney’s My Son Pinocchio JR (2015), with five performances at the Matsqui Centennial Auditorium. Performing Seussical JR (2016) at the Clarke Theatre in Mission included utilizing the professional fly system to enhance our sets. Since 2017, we’ve performed at The HUB International Theatre at the Chilliwack Cultural Centre, including Disney’s Beauty and the Beast (2017), Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella (2018), and Peter Pan (2019). Unfortunately performances for Disney’s Newsies (2020) were cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Over the years, our audiences have grown to over 3500 patrons attending one of our nine performances. Peter Pan quite literally soared on stage with theatrical flying sequences and aereography, provided by Flying By Foy. We eagerly look forward to bringing Disney’s Newsies to stage this May 2021 with a hybrid model of limited in-person audiences and streaming our production worldwide.
